About KEFC

The Kingston Emergency Food Collaborative (KEFC) is a non-hierarchical grassroots coalition composed of direct service providers, not-for-profits, activists, and community members. We focus on a culture of mutual aid and solidarity, not charity. KEFC began in March 2020, during the COVID pandemic shutdown, as an all-volunteer initiative to provide meals and groceries to the community. We seek to remove the barriers and bureaucracy from access to healthy food by meeting immediate needs and working to eliminate all factors that contribute to food insecurity. Every month ~200 individuals – including children, adults, seniors, and individuals who are disabled – rely on KEFC for food deliveries. Many of the families we support have been placed in temporary housing at motels by the Department of Social Services (DSS).
