About KEFC
The work of a collaborative is to equally uplift the voices of the many groups and people who are involved. KEFC is a non-hierarchical grassroots coalition of many groups: direct service providers, not-for-profits, activists, and community members. This collaborative believes that unequal access to healthy food within Ulster County demands the attention of all members of the community and should be urgently addressed through direct service and systemic change. While there are many organizations doing emergency food relief work in Kingston and Ulster County, KEFC was formed as an emergency response to help these organizations work collaboratively to address food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. KEFC continues to evolve to address larger food system issues in addition to the direct service work.

Devon Wood, He/Him, is the KEFC Direct Service and Outreach Coordinator. Devon has lived in and around Kingston since the age of five and has a love for the Hudson Valley and the amazing communities that it is made up of. Devon considers himself to be a tried and true “people person” who values and thrives on human connection. Devon has a background in filmmaking and photography and is always looking for new ways to use that passion and skillset to help further relationships in the community. Outside of community work and photography, Devon enjoys spending time outdoors, watching and playing sports, and binge-watching television shows.

Quay Smith (They/Them) is the KEFC Direct Service Support Specialist. Quay is a Dutchess County born and Ulster County raised resident. They’ve lived in Kingston for over ten years, while being actively engaged in their Queer and Trans community. As a local organizer, Quay previously served as the Board Chair for Rise Up Kingston. They are a professional baker of ten years with their previous role being a Production Supervisor at Bread Alone in Boiceville. Being part of KEFC for Quay means being able to combine their passion for food and feeding people. Quay values providing care, support, and advocacy for the people of the community they live amongst. In their free time, Quay enjoys sitting outside on their porch while listening to music, playing with their four cats, and sharing tons of endless joy with their spouse and friends.
Quay Smith (Elle/Elles) es el KEFC como especialista en apoyo de servicios directos. Quay nació en el condado de Dutchess y se crió en el condado de Ulster.
